Frequently Asked Questions
How Many Treatments Do I Need?

It depends what your reasons are for having Reflexology. The general recommendation is a course of 6-8 weekly sessions to start, with a review after 6 weeks to assess any changes you are noticing. Also, every body reacts and responds differently to treatments. You may have a specific health concern you need support with, or it may be that you are just looking to relax and reduce your stress levels from time to time – in which case, the regularity just depends on your time and budget. Having regular weekly treatments certainly helps maintain optimal well- being and a feeling of being supported through life’s many challenges.

Does Reflexology Hurt?

Reflexology shouldn’t be painful. If you have an injury or some other ailment on your feet, I will work on your hands instead. You might feel some discomfort/sensitivity on certain areas, but this is usually due to an energy blockage, or imbalance in the corresponding area of your body. I can adapt the pressure to you comfort and liking. Please don't be shy about giving me feedback! Any pain or discomfort usually dissipates quickly. . I take care to ensure you feel comfortable at all times. Please inform me if you have contagious condition on your feet prior to booking.

What Happens During Reflexology?

If I am working on your feet, shoes and socks will be removed and I will cleanse your feet with warm water flannels and a rose water, which hazel spray. You aren’t required to remove any other articles of clothing. We will briefly talk how you are feeling, and about the kind of treatment you’re going to receive prior to getting started. I will then apply gentle pressure to specific parts of your feet over the course of 30 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on how long you would like the session to go on for. You will always be given a few moments to relax, breathe, drink some water, have some feedback and get ready to leave the room in your own time at the end of the treatment.

How Will I Feel After Reflexology?

My clients usually feel relaxed, grounded, and lighter on their feet after reflexology, due to the way reflexology helps energy flow more freely around the body. It could be that you even feel a bit sleepy. Some people have a mild headache or need to use the toilet more often, but don’t worry if this happens to you. It’s a good sign, as it indicates a healing reaction, whereby you body is working hard to detox anything you no longer need, and bring you back into balance. It really helps enhance the benefits of your Reflexology treatment if you drink plenty of water following your session, and rest as much as possible immediately afterwards. Getting an early night is also encouraged, as sleeping is where all the magic healing happens! Avoiding rich, heavy, deep fried foods, excess sugar, caffeine and alcohol for 24/48 hours after your treatment will also enrich the benefits of your Reflexology treatment. If you have any concerns or questions following your treatment, please do no hesitate to contact me. I will give you specific advice on how to maximise the benefits of your treatment afterwards.

Are There Any Conditions That Prevent Me From Having Reflexology?

Reflexology is not suitable for people with thrombosis, phlebitis, gangrene, unstable heart conditions, or any contagious disease/virus. If you have any of these conditions, please speak with your doctor before booking an appointment with me. I will also send you a health questionnaire prior to your treatment to acknowledge any potentials contraindications, and better understand any existing conditions/issues you may have.
